The Story of Bodyprint

The journey of Bodyprint began in 1999 at the IMM Furniture Show in Cologne when Siggy Matt met the team from Veldeman Bedding. The team of Veldeman Bedding agreed to Siggy’s idea of designing a special mattress for the Icelandic market.

At that time, European mattresses typically measured 14-18 cm in thickness. The Icelandic market was however influenced by the American market with mattresses measuring 30cm in thickness.

Siggy proposed adding 7 cm of Visco foam on top of a 16 cm HR-core from Veldeman, resulting in a 23 cm mattress. Despite this being unconventional for the European market, Veldeman liked the idea. This collaboration led to the creation of the VELDAFORM mattress, which quickly became popular in Iceland and later across Europe. As technology and materials improved, Siggy Matt continued to innovate with the team from Veldeman Bedding, leading to the development of the MEDICOTT and Visco-MEDICOTT mattresses, enhancing the support and comfort.

Turning Point in Mattress Design

Siggy’s passion for creating the ultimate mattress led him to measure hundreds of people, analyzing support and comfort needs. Siggy Matt acquired advanced equipment from Xsensor Canada to measure pressure distribution on mattresses. By analyzing data from hundreds of customers, he refined his designs to eliminate negative pressure points, resulting in superior support and comfort for users of all sizes. This research culminated in the development of the IQ-CARE (Bodyprint) mattress featuring unique lumbar support inlays.

Bodyprint Evolution

The Bodyprint brand name was more and more used for these products in many countries.

In collaboration with Veldeman Bedding Siggy refined the existing design and designed three new unique types of mattresses and pillows. Numerous samples were made to get the ultimate results. New Video Film, Brochures and all marketing materials were made.

In 2016 the new line up Bodyprint was launched and achieved significant success across Europe and in many other countries.

Initial Success and Setback

However, unfortunately the partnership ended when Veldeman Bedding went bankrupt halting the sale of Bodyprint products.

Revival and New Partnership with Van Landschoot

Siggy Matt has since acquired the Bodyprint brand name and has refined and redesigned the product line, including the new Bodyprint Pocket collection with improved zoning and pressure points.

NEW BODYPRINT

I am happy to say that I bought the BODYPRINT brand name. I have used the time to redesign existing BODYPRINT products and make some new ones. The line up is much wider than before especially the new Bodyprint Pocket collection. Now the new Bodyprint Pocket collection is designed with the same zoning as the Bodyprint foam mattresses. Now they have better pressure points than ever before. I have to say that I have never been more happy and impressed with the outcome of the whole collection. I am very excited like this was my little baby waiting to be produced and sold internationally.

NEW PARTNER VAN LANDSCHOOT — Since 1925

I have a new fantastic partner Van Landschoot that is willing to go the extra mile making the new BODYPRINT collection more defined than ever before.

Van Landschoot adapted making the Bodyprint line up and changed few design elements for me to my liking.

I am happy to say that Van Landschoot has already started manufacturing and selling the new Bodyprint collection in Europe.

Van Landschoot

Happiness comes during your sleep. We at Van Landschoot are certain of that. That is exactly why we ensure a top-notch night’s sleep.

Since 1925, Van Landschoot has been a close-knit family business that produces high-quality products in its Belgian workshop using traditional methods. Our artisanal craftsmanship is based on more than 90 years of knowledge and passion for optimal sleep in the best bed.

We are the fourth generation that has made sleeping comfort our craft.

The early days: Willem Van Landschoot starts a small company in Maldegem that supplies wool, fabrics and cord for the production of wool mattresses.

During WWII, Willem is forced to stop his activities. But he does not sit still and soon makes himself heard again. He already had knowledge of the raw materials, his know-how about techniques and fillings grew steadily. From 1945 onwards, he starts producing his own mattresses. The mattress factory was born!

Time for the second generation. Simona, Willem’s daughter, joins the company together with her husband Etienne De Coninck. They continue to focus on the production of wool mattresses and under their leadership, Van Landschoot grows into a reference in the industry.

Willem’s grandsons, the two sons of Simona and Etienne, enter the scene. Under the leadership of Luc and Guy De Coninck, the wool filling gradually makes way for a polyether mattress. Not much later, they also introduce the pocket spring.

The fourth generation is coming on board: Rowany and Dennis De Coninck, Luc’s children, are putting their shoulders to the wheel for the company. Van Landschoot is a strong company that continues to innovate and strive for progress. Thanks to a number of investments, the head office and the associated production halls are getting a thorough facelift, so that Van Landschoot is once again one of the most modern production units in the sector. The family business has guaranteed high-quality sleeping comfort for almost 100 years and has no intention of stopping anytime soon.

Quality Is the Best Recipe

Siggy Matt expresses his satisfaction with the current state of the Bodyprint collection and his new partnership with Van Landschoot. He is optimistic about the future, hoping more people will experience the enhanced comfort and support of the new Bodyprint products. The positive feedback so far is promising, marking a bright future for the brand.
